HOLY Places & DEAD Lands
Tartarus and Erebus! The Underworld, sometimes called Hades in honor of its ruler. Hades and Persephone rule this shadowy place where few but the dead have ever ventured. Two rivers are here; Cocytus and Acheron. Cerberus guards the gates to the world of the dead, a giant and fearful dog with three heads. Hades has a dark place here. The bad dead get torment and the good go to the Elysian Fields.

Three Rivers Three other rivers in the dead lands are important: Phlegethon, the river of fire; Styx, the river of unbreakable oath by which the gods swear; and Lethe, the river of forgetfulness. Never swear by the Styx if you do not know the outcome, and never drink of the murky waters of Lethe.

Olympus! This is where the gods dwell, and where sometimes mortal heroes and heroines are admitted. This is a wonderful, beautiful place with lovely drinks and food. Zeus reigns above every other god or goddess here, and Hera is his powerful wife. Some people think Olympus is on a mountain but others think otherwise. One day too, if you become a hero, you will be able to visit this heavenly dwelling.
